90 mile beach
We are approaching Apihara, the south end of the famous 90 mile beach. On a sacred land of the Maoris we find a campground directly at the beach of Shipwreck bay, one of the best surf spots in NZ. A nice little wave is curling in front of us over the remains of a shipwreck from long time ago.
The campground is as basic as it could be. This may be the reason that it attracts a great crowd of people. Anneke and Anthony, who feel like soul mates, not only because they have cool box and dishes perfectly matching our van in colour.
We cook together, share our Shiraz, surfboards and stories… At this spot on earth we also shared an unforgettable moon night with endless stars engulfing the endless 90mile beach with light.
Robinson found a new friend, who gave him some private guitar lessons…
…while Sienna was dancing and playing the harmonica.
