Catch of the day

Being the most easterly Caribbean island Barbados seems to have an abundance of fish. Delicacies are flying fish and dolphin – this shocked us at first, but of course it is not the dolphin we know but the dolphin fish, also know as Mahi Mahi. One of my magic moments from Barbados: I was kiting way outside the reef break, all alone in turquoise Atlantic Ocean, it felt like my board was skipping lightly and flying across the large rolling waves, and then I must have steered my board right in the middle of a school of flying fish – out of the blue, about a hundred flying fish sailed around me, half behind and the other half in front of me. It was likely a matter of 10 sec but felt like an eternity. I still feel sparkles reflecting off their wings.

My mind wandered off and a mermaid appeared to emerge from the ocean

That same evening I threw my net out to sea right at Silver Sands. When I pulled it back in, I had the most extraordinary catch: a mermaid by the name of Gisele, Casino or something like that. Whatever her name, she sure is pure and beautiful!!! She seems more like a catch for life ….
